Ms. Akiru is a distinguished executive and board governance leader with over fifteen (15) years of experience in central banking, oil and gas finance, and development leadership. She has been the Chief Executive Officer of Calvary Development Organization (CDO) since 2022, where she leads a multi-donor portfolio in education, child protection, water and community resilience across Turkana County. Her expertise spans executive leadership, board oversight, oil & gas finance, risk analytics, financial compliance, and stakeholder engagement.
Ms. Kuno built an eleven (11) year career at the Central Bank of Kenya (2010-2021) as Investment Officer, Risk Analytics - Reserves Management, where she monitored portfolio risks, managed reserves adequacy and strategic asset allocation, and served as the Bank's Liaison Officer to the Kenya Petroleum Technical Assistance Project (KEPTAP).
She has extensive board experience as Chairperson of the Turkana Development Trust - a county-wide umbrella of 121 Civil Society Organizations - and as Chairperson of the Turkana County Government Cooperatives Fund.
She holds an MSc in Oil and Gas Finance from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, UK, an MSc in Banking and Finance (Moi University), and a BSc in Information Technology (Second Class Honours, Upper Division) from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). She is further a member of the Institute of Directors (Kenya) and in good standing and is a recipient of the Head of State Commendation (HSC) conferred by the President of the Republic of Kenya.
